Zahid Mayo was born and raised in a small town of Punjab, Alipur Chatha. Four year later his family moved to Madrassa Chatha where he started his early education. He learned calligraphy in his early years at school where Takhti Mashq (Calligraphy handwriting exercise) was an important segment of learning. Later on he developed interest in drawing and poetry. Soon he turned the village walls into his surfaces and put the stolen chalks from school and pieces of coal from the stove to the best use for his early drawings. Zahid moved to Lahore in 2005 to study art and graduated from the National College of Arts in 2013. His works can be seen in galleries in form of paintings or in similar conventional mediums but one may also find them in random places like trees in parks and road side, or sometimes on human bodies as well. Mayo is an independent visual artist, living and working in Lahore.
