Brief info

Masters in Visual Art from National College of Arts, Lahore, Maria graduated from College of Art & Design, Lahore with majors in Painting. Born in 1986, she works with a myriad of mediums such as oil paints, charcoal and paper collages. She was featured twice amongst the best at the Young Artists Exhibition at Alhamra Art Gallery in 2010 and 2012.

Maria’s work depicts a range of emotions from love, longing, lust and anger through her fantastically drawn figures. Her work has been showcased at numerous shows at galleries and art institutes of the country. Her recent shows have been solo ‘blossoming in the Woods’ at Canvas Art gallery Karachi, a group show curated by Asim Akthar 'Doppelganger' at Khaas Gallery Islamabad, a group show ‘The ‘M’ Factor’ at Canvas Art Gallery Karachi, two person show ‘Found in translation’ at Taseer Art Gallery, curated show by Hajra Haider ‘My Name Is…’ at IVS Gallery Karachi, a group show ‘Or Something Like it’ at Satrang Gallery Islamabad, ‘Visual Treat’ Artist Association of Punjab 27th Annual Exhibition of Paintings, Sculptures and Graphic Arts at the Alhamra Gallery Lahore, ,Usman Aur Main’ at Koel Art Gallery Karachi, three person show ‘Unbruised’ at The Drawing Room Gallery Lahore, a group show ‘Drawing Mandalas’ curated by Muhammad Zeeshan at Canvas Art Gallery Karachi and a painting exhibition curated by Imran Qureshi, at the ambassador house, American Embassy in collaboration with ROHTAS 1, Islamabad.

Maria draws her inspiration from the works of Paula Rego and Lucien Freud. She currently teaches fine arts at College of Art & Design, Lahore. Khan lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan.
