A visual artist based in Lahore, Maham Nadeem graduated from the National College of Arts in 2019. Her work is rooted in human psychology, and predominantly consists of female portraiture, exploring themes of reality vs altered reality, and the real vs fake. Through her work, she unveils the idealistic expectations society has made women create for themselves and their internal attempt of trying to separate themselves from and overcome them, by shedding light on the influences of pop culture, consumerism and social media. She takes inspiration from artists like Barbara Kruger, Cindy Sherman and Andy Warhol. Her work has been exhibited in VM Art Gallery in Karachi, Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery and Al-Hamra Arts Council in Lahore, and the World Bank Head office in Islamabad.
